Postwar French carousel scooters display some of the most endearing designs. Sometimes they combine the features of a variety of makers; so, together, they have become a genre of 1950s scooter separate from the manufacturers of full-size machines.
The Montheilet Carrossier has escaped its fairground roundabout in good unrestored original condition. Its rear light lens needs replacing. It would stand its ground in any exhibition or display of classic scooters …as well as in the hallway of a modernist’s house.
